Bond Street isn’t exactly short of glitzy boutiques and fancy places to splash your cash. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for one more. After years of work, Hermès has officially opened its mega-boutique, Maison Bond Street. And yep, it’s pretty mega.
The new space replaces the brand’s former flagship at 155 New Bond Street, which closed on May 29, as well as its Selfridges concession. More than just a new location, the outpost makes London one of just six cities worldwide with a Hermès Maison.
Whether you’ve got the cash for Hermès luxe goods or not, there’s plenty to explore at the sprawling 55-room space at 166 New Bond Street. Spanning a staggering 2,000 square metres across five floors and six interconnected Grade II listed buildings, there’s even two rooftop terraces. Y’know, for when you need a breather from all the (window) shopping.

The Maison is the brainchild of Parisian architect Denis Montel, who began work on the project in 2021 with Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure. The interiors fuse the building’s 19th century period charm with contemporary features. Visitors enter through a seven-metre high façade, before stepping into a hall which houses Hermès’ incredible silk collection. Other highlights include a breathtaking limestone and a spiral glass staircase.
Aside from Hermès’ classic leather goods, fashion pieces and jewellery, there are heaps more beautiful items to discover inside London’s Hermès Maison – not least hundreds of artworks. A striking horse sculpture by British artist Jessica Wetherly stands among the displays while bespoke wall art by London illustrator Katie Scott adds colour to the window.

If you’re lucky enough to own anything from Hermès, you can take your items to the third floor, where its artisans work on repairs and refurbishments.
The building has its own storied history. The first floor was once the home to the famous 19th century actor Henry Irving, while other rooms were the residence of Florence Nightingale. There’s even a Victorian elevator which has been revamped thanks to the only remaining Victorian lift mechanic in the UK.

The opening is a significant milestone for Hermès in the UK, which now spans four London addresses (Hermès Sloane Street, Cadogan Place, SW1X 9PX; Hermès Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road; Hermès Royal Exchange, 12/13 Royal Exchange, EC3V 3LL).
