Hear the word saloon, and images of stetsons, swinging batwing doors and high noon showdowns are probably what come to mind. Well, how about a pint of Guinness? The black stuff will be front and centre of a brand new Guinness Saloon opening in central London this summer.

You might remember that back in January we announced that bar chain Mr Fogg’s was opening a new flagship location in Covent Garden. Named the Mr Fogg’s Market Tavern, it will take over the site formerly home to legendary wine bar The Crusting Pipe, which shut up shop in December 2025 after 45 years in operation.

The Mr Fogg’s brand, which operates a collection of Victorian-inspired bars and pubs themed around Jules Verne’s character Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days, has been working to transform the space into its 11th London venue, which is set to open on July 20.

Designed to look like a traditional Victorian pub, the venue spans multiple rooms connected by original brickwork arches. The Guinness Saloon, a unique feature of the site, will have an entire bar dedicated to – you guessed it – Guinness. It’ll feature a machine which counts each pint of Irish stout poured at the bar, displaying the number of drinks sold since its opening.

Mr Fogg’s has said that the recipient of every 1,000th Guinness poured will have their picture hung on the wall of fame. For the camera shy punters among us, perhaps the round of drinks also on offer is enough to make you say cheese.

Plus, the lucky 10,000th Guinness drinker will win an all expenses paid trip to Ireland to visit Dublin’s St. James’s Gate Brewery. If you thought Thirsty Thursdays couldn’t get any better, it might be time to think again.

Mr Fogg’s Market Tavern will also feature a 65-seat courtyard and 4,500 square foot interior when it opens at The Piazza, 27 The Market, WC2E 8RD next month.
