How to watch Mexico v England at World Cup 2026, channel and kick off time

It hasn’t exactly been plain sailing, but England are through to the last 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The reward for Harry Kane’s two goals against DR Congo? A game against co-hosts Mexico at their mighty fortress the Estadio Azteca.

In Mexico City Thomas Tuchel’s men won’t just face a formidable, in-form Mexico side: they’ll be battling high altitude (the Azteca is 2,200 metres above sea level) and an opposition fanbase numbering the best part of 80,000.

For us lot back at home, the biggest challenge will be staying up for the game – or finding a pub that’s open to watch it. Here in the UK the match will be in the wee hours of Monday morning, kicking off at 1am. Find everything you need to know about watching it below.

What time is Mexico vs England for World Cup 2026?

The game will kick off on Sunday July 5 at 6pm local time in Mexico City, which is seven hours behind the UK. This means kick-off in the UK is at 1am on Monday July 6.  

What time will Mexico vs England finish?

Well, that depends. If the game doesn’t go to extra time, the match should be wrapped up by 3am.

If the round of 16 face-off goes to extra time and penalties, you can add at least another 45-ish minutes to that.

What channel is England’s round of 16 game on?

The match will be shown on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

What time does coverage start?

The BBC’s coverage of the game kicks off just after midnight, at 12.10am.
