Horror is riding high with the likes of Backrooms and Obsession killing it at the box office and winning rave reviews.

The genre is here to stay and anyone keen to get a glimpse of its future should head to Leicester Square in late August for another gory, unsettling and plain deranged instalment of FrightFest.

The UK’s biggest horror film festival, now in its 26th year, has just announced its biggest ever programme for August 27-31.

Taking place at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square and Odeon Luxe West End, Tubi FrightFest 2026 packs in a record-breaking 82 movies across the five days, including 24 world premieres from 16 countries.

The fest opens with Abner Pastoll’s South Korean-set descent-into-madness chiller Nervous and closes with Species, a body horror from French writer-director Marion Le Corroller.

Other highlights on the line-up include Colony, the latest from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho, and Indonesian horror-comedy Ghosts in the Cell

Will one of the 82 films announce the arrival of a new Curry Barker, Kane Parsons or Julia Ducournau? Scour the official programme for some clues.

Tubi FrightFest 2026 runs from Thursday August 27 to Sunday August 31.
