Witnessing Christopher Nolan’s take on The Odyssey on the big screen feels like an epic immersive experience on itself. And then there’s watching the film play out on 70mm IMAX, a vision befitting the gods that maximises resolution, screen space and preservers the director’s original vision.
As the first film to be entirely shot on IMAX cameras, only 41 cinemas in the world can showcase the Matt Damon-led Greek saga in its original format. Three of them are in the UK.
IMAX tickets were largely sold out for the film’s initial July run, but there’s still scope to experience it in the optimum format. Here’s how and where you can still get hold of your Odyssey IMAX tickets in the UK.
Where can I watch The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX?
Only three UK screens can screen The Odyssey in the format Nolan intended:
- BFI IMAX, London
- The Ronson Theatre at the Science Museum, London
- Vue Manchester Printworks, Manchester
Can I still get my tickets?
Screenings at the BFI IMAX are sold out until September 10, although the official website states that more September dates are to be added soon. Keep an eye out because they will sell out.
The Science Museum is screening The Odyssey until September 13, again to sold-out audiences. Although the venue confirmed that ‘tickets may still be available due to returns’.
