Last weekend (July 25-26) Londoners experienced something practically unheard of in this city: there was no major planned disruption on TfL services. However, this weekend things are different: on August 1-2 2026 there will be several major service changes to watch out for, including the full closure of the Piccadilly line.
But don’t let the navy blue line’s ongoing works disrupt your weekend plans. The best things taking place in London on Saturday and Sunday include Somerset House’s first ever stand-up comedy festival, the Dulwich Picture Gallery’s big summer exhibition and Canada Water’s new, free culture festival Round the Dock.

London travel disruption and tube closures, August 1-2 2026
Piccadilly line
- On Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2 the entire line will be closed between 12.30am and 4.30am.
- On Sat Aug 1 and Sun Aug 2, no trains between Cockfosters and Heathrow from 4am to end of service.
- Trains will still run between Acton Town and Uxbridge.
- Westbound trains will not call at Barons Court until November. If travelling west, go one stop east to Earls Court and then change trains for westbound services.
- Finsbury Park station is closed all weekend.
DLR
- On Sun Aug 2, no trains between Tower Gateway and Shadwell.
Lioness line (Overground)
- On Sun Aug 2, no trains between Euston and Kilburn High Road before midday or after 8.30pm.
Windrush line (Overground)
- On Sun Aug 2, no trains between Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Road. Trains will divert to Battersea Park after Wandsworth Road.
Mildmay line (Overground)
- On Sun Aug 2, no service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm.
District line
- Westbound trains will not call at Barons Court until November. If travelling west, go one stop east to West Kensington and then change trains for westbound services.
Waterloo and City line
- Closed on weekends and bank holidays, as always (but could that soon change?).
