When it comes to food, there are many, many things the Italians have perfected. Sure, there’s the pizza and the pasta, but we would be remiss to forget about the sweet stuff too – cute, crunchy cannoli, silky tiramisu, and, of course, creamy gelato.
And sweet-toothed west Londoners will be happy to hear that a new café is bringing a little taste of Europe’s Boot to your neighbourhood.
La Gelateria Della Luna opened this week (today, in fact, Friday May 22) on the Fulham Road, bringing handcrafted Italian gelato, specialty coffee and artisan pastries to SW6.
The ice cream shop is serving up gelato made with fresh ingredients sourced directly from Italy (think Piedmont hazelnuts and Sicilian pistachios).
If you’re looking to avoid the brain freeze, the café also offers freshly baked pastries, including chocolate and hazelnut croissants, as well as specialty coffee from local roasters Code.194. Its drinks menu also features matcha, ube and spirulina lattes, as well as traditional rich Italian hot chocolate.
As well as space to sit indoors, al fresco tables will make you feel for a second like you’re on hols soaking up some sun on an Italian piazza. The only thing that’s left to decide is whether you’re having one scoop or two. And all just in time for a heatwave.
